Furry friends crochet pattern

Welcome at this furry friends crochet pattern!
These cuddly toys are made with the loop stitch. If you cut these stitches with a pair of scissors, you get the furry effect.
The white and pink furry friend is made with worsted weight yarn. The pattern is based on this toy.
The brown furry friend is made with Flora yarn (Drops) I used two threads of yarn at the same time. The pattern is the same as the white and pink one, but instead of only rounds of loop stitches, I used one round loop stitch and one round single crochet.
So 4 rounds of loop stitches as described in the pattern, are 1 round loop stitch – 1 round single crochet – 1 round loop stitch – 1 round single crochet for the Flora yarn friend.
Because 2 threads are used at the same time, you get a full furry effect when you open the loops. If you would use only rounds of loop stitches, the furry effect would be to full.

I made two tutorials of the loop stitch. I recommend you watch them if you’re not familiar with this stitch.
loop stitch
loop stitch: how to attach the yarn and work in continuous rounds

When you use the loop stitch, you crochet on the wrong side of your work. The loops will apear on the outside.

Place the eyes between round 3 and 4, with 5 stitches between the eyes. Sew on the snout like shown in the picture.

Embroider the mouth and the nose like shown in the picture. Later on I removed the pink yarn for the mouth and used brown instead. The pink yarn wasn’t very visible.

Place the ears like shown on the pictures.

Embroider the eyelashes like shown in the picture.

Now we start decreasing: place the hook in the next stitch and pull up the yarn. Place the hook in the next stitch and crochet a loop stitch. Before you finish the loop stitch yup have three loops on the hook. Pull the yarn through all the loops. You made a decrease.

Stuff the head while you crochet the next rounds.
