Abbreviations (U.S)

  • mr = magic ring
  • ch = chain
  • st = stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch

  • inc = increase (2 stitches in 1 stitch)
  • dec = decrease (2 stitches together)

Materials

  • 1 skein Scheepjes stonewashed moon
  • 1 skein Scheepjes stonewashed axanite
  • 1 skein Scheepjes colour crafter red (Maastricht)
  • 1 skein scheepjes colour crafter dark green (Emmen)
  • leftover white yarn
  • leftover black yarn
  • 1 pair of safety eyes 10 mm
  • 1 safety nose 10 mm
  • fibre fill
  • crochet hook size 3 and 4 mm
  • 1 white pompon 25 mm
  • 2 white pompons 20 mm

Attention

This crochet pattern is made in continuous rounds. Don’t close the rounds.

Christmas bear crochet pattern

Snout

Use stonewashed axanite and crochet hook 3 mm.

Placing eyes and snout

Don’t fasten off. Stuff the snout lightly and sew on the head, between row 11 and 23. Place the eyes, like shown in the picture.

Right leg

Use stonewashed moon and crochet hook 3 mm.

Pick up the bear, with its face towards you. Determine the middle of its body, on the frontside.

Place a stitch marker in that stitch. Count another 20 stitches to the right and place a stitch marker in the 20th stitch. Now you have 21 stitches. These are the stitches we’ll use for the right leg.

Attach the yarn to the 11th stitch (that’s on the side of the body)and crochet 10 sc. In the next stitch you’ll find a stitch marker. Remove it and crochet a sc. Go straight to the next marker, remove it and crochet a sc in that stitch. Crochet another 9 sc. You’ve reached the first stitch and have crocheted 21 single crochets.

Crochet another 5 rounds with 21 sc.

Stuff the body as you go. Then crochet:

Stuff the leg. Fasten off and attach a sewing needle. Pull the needle through the 12 outer loops and pull the thread to close the gap.

Left leg

Use stonewashed moon and crochet hook size 3 mm.

Attach the yarn in the middle of the other side of the body. Crochet 21 sc, using the remaining stitches.

Crochet another 5 rounds with 21 sc.

Stuff the leg. Fasten off and attach a sewing needle. Pull the needle through the 12 outer loops and pull the thread to close the gap.

You’ll have a little gap between the legs. Use some sewing stitches to close is. Weave in the ends.

Arm (make two)

Use stonewashed moon and crochet hook size 3 mm.

Stuff the hand.

Don’t stuff the arm any further. Fold the sides of the top together and close with 6 sc. Sew the arm on the side of the body, right below the head. Crochet another arm and sew on the other side of the body.

Hat

Use colour crafter red and crochet hook size 4 mm.

Continue with the flap:

  1. 7 dc, turn.
  2. 7 dc, turn.
  3. Skip 1 st, dc in the next 5 stitches, turn, (this way you skip the last stitch)
  4. Skip 1 st, dc in the next 3 stitches, skip the next, turn.
  5. 3 dc, turn.
  6. 3 dc, turn.
  7. 3 dc, turn.
  8. Skip the first stitch, crochet the next 2 stitches together.

Skip 16 stitches to the right and fasten on in the 17th stitch. Crochet another flap in the same way.

Don’t fasten off, but turn after the last stitch. Crochet single crochets around the bottom of the hat and the flaps.

Weave in the ends and sew on the pompons, on the top and the flaps.

Scarf

Use dark green yarn and crochet hook size 4 mm.

  1. Crochet 9 sc.
  2. sc in 2nd chain from the hook and remaining loops, chain 1 and turn.
  3. sc, dc, repeat until the last stitch, sc in the last stitch. Chain 1 and turn.
  4. sc in sc of the previous row, dc in dc of the previous row. Repeat until the end of the row. Chain 1 and turn.

Repeat round 4 until the length of the scarf measures about 38 cm. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Place the scarf and the hat on the bear.
